Landscape Installation Superintendent
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Landscape Installation Superintendent to oversee and support multiple landscape installation projects and field crews. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and according to quality standards.
The ideal candidate has experience in landscape construction, irrigation systems, crew supervision, project coordination, and job-site safety. This position serves as a key point of communication between field crews, management, subcontractors, and clients while also supporting employee training and development.
Key Responsibilities
Crew and Project Management
- Oversee daily operations for 1 to 4 landscape installation crews, including direct supervision of one assigned crew
- Coordinate labor assignments and workforce needs based on project timelines and priorities
- Ensure crews understand daily tasks, project expectations, and deadlines
- Monitor project progress to ensure work is completed on time and according to specifications
- Support efficient use of labor, materials, equipment, and job-site resources
Quality Control and Safety
- Conduct regular job-site inspections to ensure quality workmanship, safe work practices, and adherence to landscape plans and specifications
- Verify proper installation of irrigation systems, plant materials, trees, sod, and landscape features
- Ensure crews maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites
- Identify and communicate project concerns, delays, or safety issues in a timely manner
Materials and Equipment Coordination
- Order and coordinate job-site materials while maintaining budget expectations
- Forecast and communicate material needs in advance, including:
- Irrigation materials at least 48 hours in advance
- Plant materials, trees, and sod at least one week in advance
- Ensure crews have the proper tools, equipment, and machine attachments needed for daily work
- Assist with monitoring vehicle and equipment maintenance needs
Client and Team Communication
- Maintain professional communication with clients, subcontractors, field crews, and internal team members
- Support training, mentorship, and development of crew members and crew leaders
- Assist with weekly scheduling, project planning, and resource forecasting
- Promote a positive, professional, and safety-focused work environment
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in landscape installation, construction management, or related field leadership
- Strong knowledge of landscape installation practices, irrigation systems, plant materials, and landscape construction methods
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, landscape designs, and project specifications
- Experience managing multiple crews or projects at the same time
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred but not required
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and perform physical tasks including bending, standing, walking, lifting, and squatting for extended periods
- Comfortable operating or supervising the use of landscape machinery and equipment
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation
- Competitive annual salary of $50,000 to $65,000, based on experience
