Position Overview
A manufacturing facility in Gastonia is seeking a reliable Clinch Nut Helper to support weekend production operations. This position assists machine operators with installing clinch nuts, fasteners, and related hardware into fabricated metal parts according to production instructions, specifications, and quality requirements.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, comfortable working 12-hour shifts, and able to maintain accuracy while performing repetitive production tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Clinch Nut Machine Operator throughout the production process.
- Load and unload metal parts, components, and production materials.
- Place and position parts correctly before fasteners are installed.
- Confirm that the correct clinch nuts, hardware, and fastener sizes are being used.
- Follow production orders, drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
- Use tape measures, calipers, gauges, or other basic measuring tools.
- Inspect finished parts for proper fastener placement, alignment, damage, and defects.
- Identify, separate, and report parts that do not meet quality standards.
- Supply the machine operator with parts, materials, tools, and hardware.
- Count, organize, label, stack, and move completed products.
- Assist with machine setup, adjustments, and production changeovers as directed.
- Monitor machines and report jams, unusual noises, malfunctions, or unsafe conditions.
- Maintain accurate production flow during extended weekend shifts.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.
- Meet production goals while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Perform other production and material-handling duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing, assembly, production, machine helper, or metal fabrication experience is preferred.
- Previous experience with clinch nuts, PEM fasteners, presses, or hardware installation is a plus.
- Ability to understand basic measurements and perform basic math.
- Basic knowledge of fastener sizes and hardware identification is preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to remain productive and focused during 12-hour shifts.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are required.
- Ability to work Friday through Sunday and overtime when required.
- Willingness to learn machine controls, inspection procedures, and production processes.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a 12-hour shift.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and handle metal components.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate.
- Ability to work around industrial equipment, metal parts, and moving machinery.

Work Environment

Compensation
$17 per hour
