2nd Shift MIG Welder
Location: Gastonia, NC 28056
Schedule: Monday – Thursday | 5:30 PM – 4:00 AM
Pay: Starting at $17.00 per hour (DOE)
Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable MIG Welder to join a growing manufacturing team in Gastonia, NC. This position is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components using established welding techniques while maintaining quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate is committed to producing quality work, following established procedures, and contributing to a collaborative production environment.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Perform welding operations using MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding processes to fabricate, assemble, or repair metal components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, welding symbols, and work instructions to complete assigned tasks.
- Set up and operate welding equipment, selecting appropriate tools, materials, gases, and welding wire or electrodes for each job.
- Inspect materials prior to welding to verify they meet production specifications.
- Clean, prepare, and position metal components before welding.
- Inspect completed welds and perform adjustments or rework, as needed, to meet established quality standards.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of welding equipment and report equipment concerns to supervision.
- Follow all workplace safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules and quality expectations.
- Assist with maintaining an organized work area and report material shortages or production concerns as appropriate.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Technical or vocational training in welding is a plus.
- Previous welding or metal fabrication experience preferred.
- Experience reading blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
- Familiarity with welding equipment, consumables, nozzles, tips, and basic equipment maintenance.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to perform work accurately while maintaining production and quality standards.
Work Environment
This position is performed in a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to moving equipment, industrial noise, welding fumes, heat, sparks, and varying temperatures. Employees are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing assigned job duties.
Physical Requirements
