Position Overview

A metal manufacturing facility in Gastonia, NC is seeking a dependable Central Laser Doffer to support second-shift laser cutting operations.

This is a hands-on general labor position responsible for safely removing completed metal parts from the laser cutting area, separating finished products from scrap material, and organizing parts for the next stage of production. The position requires attention to detail, consistent attendance, and the ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the shift.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely remove completed metal parts and remaining material from the laser cutting table.
• Sort, separate, stack, and organize laser-cut parts according to work orders and production instructions.
• Identify and separate usable finished parts, scrap metal, and excess material.
• Count completed parts and verify that quantities match production documentation.
• Inspect parts for visible defects, incomplete cuts, damaged edges, or other quality concerns.
• Report damaged parts, incorrect quantities, equipment concerns, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
• Label, bundle, package, or stage completed parts for the next production process.
• Use basic hand tools and material-handling equipment as trained and authorized.
• Assist laser operators and other production team members with material movement and general production duties.
• Keep the laser area clean, organized, and free of unnecessary materials or safety hazards.
• Follow all safety procedures, production instructions, and quality standards.
• Wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
• Perform other related manufacturing and general labor duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous general labor, manufacturing, warehouse, metal fabrication, or production experience is preferred.
• Experience working around laser cutting or metal fabrication equipment is helpful but not required.
• Ability to follow verbal and written work instructions.
• Basic counting, measuring, and math skills.
• Ability to identify parts, labels, work orders, and production quantities accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a production team.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.
• Willingness to learn proper material-handling and laser-area safety procedures.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

• Regularly lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Standing and walking for extended periods during a 10-hour shift.
• Frequently bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, crouching, and gripping.
• Using hands and arms to handle, sort, stack, and move metal parts.
• Working safely around industrial machinery, moving equipment, metal materials, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
• Maintaining the visual attention necessary to inspect parts and identify quality concerns.

Work Environment

This position is performed in an active metal manufacturing facility. Employees may be exposed to industrial noise, dust, sharp metal edges, machinery, and changing temperatures. Strict compliance with all safety procedures is required.
