Location: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 29572
Pay: $16.00 per hour
Schedule: 1st Shift, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Hours: 40 hours per week
Workdays: Weekends required, with varying days off
Language: Bilingual Spanish is a plus, but not required
Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Public Area Housekeeper to help clean and maintain public areas in a hotel environment. This position is responsible for keeping lobbies, restrooms, offices, elevators, stairwells, windows, glass surfaces, and other shared spaces clean, organized, and presentable.
The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for guests, visitors, and team members.
Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain public areas, including lobbies, restrooms, hallways, stairwells, elevators, offices, and other assigned spaces.
  • Thoroughly clean sinks, mirrors, countertops, walls, vents, floors, windows, and glass surfaces using assigned cleaning products.
  • Dust furniture, fixtures, pictures, and other public-area items.
  • Vacuum carpets and public areas as assigned.
  • Empty trash and properly dispose of waste.
  • Polish fixtures and maintain the appearance of elevators and stairwells.
  • Clean ashtrays and designated smoking-area items where applicable.
  • Assist with guest room cleaning when needed.
  • Help deliver guest requests as assigned.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area.
  • Follow service standards, safety guidelines, and cleaning procedures.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and trainings as required.
  • Report suspicious activity, hazardous conditions, maintenance issues, or safety concerns to the appropriate department.
  • Provide general assistance, direction, or guidance to guests and team members during emergencies when needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by a supervisor, including cross-training in other areas.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience cleaning hotels, preferably in housekeeping, public areas, janitorial, or hospitality cleaning.
  • Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents and cleaning equipment is helpful.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Professional and respectful attitude when interacting with guests and team members.
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus but not required.
Uniform Requirements
  • Black non-slip resistant shoes.
  • Black pants.
  • No jeans.
  • Black polo shirt with no logos.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, scrub, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to extend arms and perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
  • Ability to work in public areas for long periods during the shift.
  • Must be able to safely use cleaning supplies and equipment.
 

Compensation

$16 per hour
